Typically our PTFE Tape is wrapped clock-wise around plastic, brass, aluminum, stainless-steel, galvanized steel or black nipple/pipe s threads at least three times and it helps to provide a strong tight seal for threaded joints.
Steps to use the teflon tape
1.Start by cleaning the male threads at the end of the pipe with a clean rag.
2.Place the end of the Teflon tape on the second thread in and hold it in place with one hand.
3.Wrap the tape in the same direction of the threads.
4.Keep tension on the tape and wrap it several times working away from the end of the pipe.
5.When you have finished wrapping the Teflon smooth the loose end down into the threads.
Tips For Using Teflon Tape:
Always wrap the tape in the same direction that the fitting will be tightened
Don t apply Teflon to the first thread Start at the end (one thread back) and wrap the tape away from the end of the pipe
Use at least 4 to 6 wraps of Teflon tape
For cosmetic purposes, over-wrap past the threads and once the fitting is on peal back any exposed Teflon tape.
